Cased Pair of Knubley Flintlock Pistols

A) Knubley Flintlock Pistol

John Knubley is listed in "Gunmakers of London" by Blackmore as a gunmaker and sword cutler from c. 1771 until his death in 1795. He was a gunmaker to the Prince of Wales, Duke of Clarence, and Prince Edward and also an Ordnance contractor for firearms, cannon locks, and broadswords. These officer's style pistols have blade front sights, proof and view marks on the left at the breeches, "KNUBLEY" on the locks, scroll and floral engraving, and full-length stocks. The relined period case contains a cleaning rod, "BARTRAM & CO" marked powder flask, and ball mold with integral sprue cutter and screwdrivers.

ConditionFine with gray and brown patina along with some minor oxidation on the lock and barrel, aged patina on the brass furniture, and mild overall wear. The stock is also fine and has some small cracks and repairs at the lock mortise and forend tip, light scratches and dings, and smooth oiled finish. Mechanically fine. The relined case and accessories are good with mild age and storage related wear.
