Manufactured in 1901 and subsequently custom engraved with profuse coverage American style floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background along with cross hatching patterns and zig zag line motifs. A single gold band is inlaid on the rear of the cylinder. Even the hammer is engraved. The intricate engraving is unsigned. The later production replacement barrel has the one-line Hartford address and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL." The frame has the two-line patent dates followed by an encircled Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers appear on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap.

Very fine a professionally custom embellished and refinished, retaining 95% blue finish with a few areas of gray and 97% of the case colors. The grip is also very fine showing a few typical age lines and attractive color and grain. Mechanically fine.
