Measuring 31 1/2 inches long overall, with a 21 1/2 inch blade, showing a straight hamon and fine grain. The habaki is silver finished and blackened, with light serrations. The hilt follows the "shin gunto" regulation pattern, with a gold plated tsuba, gold accents on the furniture, and a floral mon badge on the back of the kashira. The saya is equipped with shin gunto pattern furniture and finished with white lacquer dots on a brown lacquer field. The assembly number "272" can be found on the tsuba and spacers. The tang has two mekugi-ana and a carved 8-symbol signature on the right side; no showa/non-traditional/arsenal stamps are present on the tang and no painted markings, suggesting a traditionally made blade. While the exact history of this sword is unknown, a number of traditional blades were still being made during World War II as resources permitted, as well as older sword blades being fitted with the new pattern furniture.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall. Mild spotting is present on the blade, with a few edge nicks and a strong hamon. A ding is present on the left side of the habaki, with some loss of the finish, and the rest of the furniture shows mild wear and stains.
