Manufactured in 1881, the standard Colt two-line address on top of the barrel, patent date on the bottom, and the desirable "COLT NEW 38" etched panel on the left. The matching serial number is on the left of the grip frame and bottom of the barrel, and "285" is marked faintly in pencil inside the right grip. It is fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in ovals at the tops. Includes a plain modern box labeled to match the gun and an informational plaque. Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original nickel finish with a few patches of light flaking on the cylinder and a few edges. The grips are very fine with a few scattered very light blemishes in the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
