One of approximately 4,000 manufactured from 1880 to 1886, with this example produced in 1882. The top of the barrel has the two-line Hartford address, the "COLT HOUSE 38" etched panel is on the left, and the patent date on the bottom. There are British proofs on the barrel and cylinder. The top strap is engraved "WATSON BROs/4 PALL MALL. LONDON." on either side of the sighting groove. It has standard features and the serial number is marked on the butt, with "006" on the rear face of the cylinder. It is fitted with a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in ovals at the tops and the serial number faintly stamped on the butt of the left panel. Includes an oak case with Watson Bros. retailer label inside the lid, screwdriver, cleaning rod, oiler, key, and six .38 CF cartridges.
Fine, retains 40% of the original nickel finish with some mild flaking scattered throughout, revealing a smooth grey patina and a few scattered patches of light pitting. The grips are very fine with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with some scattered light handling/storage marks.
