Eudal Mola is identified as active in Ripoll in the late 18th century, but his family had been active in the region since the late 17th century. The smoothbore barrel bad a ringed muzzle, polygonal fore-section, banded transition point, silver inlaid floral patterns on the octagonal breech section, a sunken copper maker's mark for Eudal Mola on top at the breech, and an engraved tang. The lock has some light engraving. The furniture is brass with scroll engraving and silver accents in the shapes of classical warrior busts. The oval wrist escutcheon is also silver and has floral engraving. The stock has some nice molding on the forend, incised borders around the trigger guard, and elaborate raised relief floral carving at the barrel tang. Provenance: The Collection of Joe M. Very good. The lock and barrel have mottled gray patina and some mild pitting. The brass and silver have dark aged patina. The engraving is generally crisp. The stock is also very good with a couple of thin cracks on the left side of the forend and has nice carving and minor age and storage related wear. Mechanically fine.
