Description:

Originally manufactured in 1917, this Artillery Luger shows markings indicating it as having been entered into the inventory of the Weimar-era Reichsmarine post-World War I. Fitted with a set of fine adjustable blade front and tangent rear sights, the chamber is marked with the "1920" inventory stamp over the "1917" date stamp, with "DWM" on the front toggle link, Imperial-era "eagle" and "crown/letter" stamps on the appropriate parts, and the Weimar-era "eagle/O" acceptance stamps on the left side of the barrel and chamber. The frontstrap is marked with "O.1678" (struck through) and "O.53", indicating issue from the German Baltic Sea (Ostsee) depot. The magazine is marked "eagle/M" and "9229x", the right grip is numbered "3" and the left unnumbered, otherwise parts are matching, with some components remarked or overstamped to match (likely during depot work). Included with the pistol is a brown leather closure with a GI modified snap closure and a cleaning rod. Provenance: The Art Buchanan Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 85% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish, showing bright edge wear, a small amount of spotting, and light handling marks overall. The grips are also fine, with a few dings on the crisp checkering. Holster is good as modified, with cracking, scuffing and touched up areas overall. The magazine button does not fully engage the hold-open, otherwise mechanically excellent.
