Description:

Manufactured in relatively limited quantities, a number of Mauser pistols were shipped to Sweden for commercial sale in Stockholm during World War II. Having maintained a policy of armed neutrality through the 1930s and into the war, Sweden was open for business, and the arms trade was one of those businesses. This pistol can be seen on pages 240 and 241 of the book "Third Reich Lugers" by Jan Still, where it is used as the exemplar for the Swedish Mauser Commercial Luger, and noted as having been exported to the U.S. from Sweden with the inlaid disk already present on the grip panel. Blade and notch sights, with a "1940" dated chamber, the "Mauser Banner" logo on the front toggle link, and the "Kal. 7,65" caliber marking on the left side of the barrel. A set of "eagle/N" commercial proofs are present, along with an externally matching set of "military pattern" serial numbers, including one of the included magazines (other magazine mixed). Fitted with a set of straw finished small parts, checkered hardwood grips with a disk inlaid into the left panel engraved "BB" and dated "19 2/9 42", and two blued magazines with alloy bases. Also included are a brown leather Albrecht Kind flap holster and an unmarked takedown tool, both of which appear to be the accessories featured with the pistol in Still's book. Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 90% plus original blue finish, showing the start of a brown patina on the backstrap, minor handing marks and a small amount of spotting. The small parts show 90% of the bright original straw finish, and the very fine grips have some minor dings and flat spots on the sharp checkering. The holster is very fine, with some light scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
