Description:

The Savage Model 1907 pistol was manufactured from 1910-1917, with this example being far from standard. This particular pistol is a unique factory cutaway used for demonstration purposes. The pistol features 17 separate cutout windows that allow viewing of most of the internal mechanics of the gun. It appears to have not received the same high polish as production guns before it was blued, and the exposed edges/borders of the viewing windows have been painted with red enamel for contrast and easier viewing. Included with the pistol is a letter signed by renowned Savage collector and author of "Savage Pistols", Bailey Brower Jr. The letter states that the pistol was purchased from a well-known New York gun dealer who had access to Savage's Research & Development storeroom and bought this pistol directly from the company. Provenance: The Bailey Brower, Jr. Collection, author of “Savage Pistols”

Rating Definition:

Very fine as in factory cutaway configuration, retaining 70% of the original matte blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered small patches of very light pitting. The left grip is absent for interior viewing of the magazine well, and the right grip is very fine with a few light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically fine as a demonstration piece.
