Blued steel barrels with single brass bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which shows a small flourish of scroll at the breech, 2 inch wedges of scroll at either breech, 3 inch chambers with ejectors, and chokes measured full/full. The coin finished sideplated boxlock action displays exceptional mythological theme extensive deep relief engraved themes over a darkened matted background. The left side of the action and sideplate show four mythical beasts battling one another with the right side a mirror image of the same, each fence shows a fork tongued snake bust, the top lever displays a devilish mask, the triggerguard has a dragon figure, the lower tang shows small rodent and lizard scenes, and the underside shows a pair of beasts below a large devilish mask. The work is unsigned; however, the consignor states that the work was done by Master Engraver Richard Roy of Connecticut. The gun features a single selective trigger and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings and reading "CHRISTIAN HUNTER" in relief lettering and a straight grip stock with teardrop carved flats, blank gold inscription oval, and checkered bare butt. Stock measurements: 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 3 oz.
Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with limited handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
