Description:

Manufactured as one of two known prototypes, this revolver was manufactured by Rossi. Features serrated blade front and adjustable rear sights. The left side of the barrel is marked with the Rossi address and ".44 MAGNUM" on the right. The frame is the most notable part of this revolver as it incorporates the same triple lock feature seen on the Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model of 1908. The original triple lock system was used by Smith & Wesson to not only make a stronger revolver, but show their capability in precision machining. Below the cylinder the right side of the frame is marked "P.M.D. 001". This revolver is noted as being one of two known prototypes on page 201 of "Guns of the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum". This revolver is also pictured and discussed in the August, 1979 and December, 1988 issues of American Rifleman. Provenance: The Supica Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% original blue finish with limited handling marks and a cylinder drag line. Grips are very good with dings and scratches and retaining most of the original varnish. Mechanically excellent. This is your chance to own the only Rossi triple lock to be offered to the public.
