Description:

Measuring 13 5/8 inches overall, with a 7 3/8 inch single edged drop point blade that features a 3 inch false edge, nearly square languet, and an integral round bolster. The bolster is attached to an aged silver collar, which has a faint "STERLING" mark on one side and traces of an illegible inscription on the other. The hilt is sent into the collar, carved from a single piece of antique ivory with carved leafy scroll motifs and checkerboard panels, with blackened silver scrolls and dots accenting th pattern. The sheath is silver plated, with leaf and acorn motifs integrated into the belt hook, and engraved scrollwork and arrays of arms on the front and back. Provenance: The Dr. Gerald Klaz Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine. The blade shows some shallow pitting, minor spotting, a few edge nicks and minor handling marks. The silver components show a deep patina overall, with a lighter, mixed tone and some wear to what appears to be underlying German silver on the sheath and some weld marks on the collar. The grip is also fine, with an age crack forming in the underside and attractive color and grain overall.
