Description:

This grouping includes two similarly embellished Caucasian style qama daggers, also commonly referred to as "Cossack" daggers, due to the famous horsemen regularly carrying them. 1) 18 inches overall, 13 3/8 inch blade with no fullers, extensive blued and silver plated engraved floral patterns on the hilt and scabbard. 2) 19 inches overall, 14 1/4 inch blade with triple fullers on both sides, deeply sunken Cyrillic maker's mark on the outside transliterated to "Butaevie", and extensive relief engraved floral patterns on the hilt and scabbard finished in contrasting blue and silver plating. Provenance: The Dr. Gerald Klaz Collection

Rating Definition:

Both are fine overall, showing an attractively aged patina with some scattered patches of light pitting on the blades, the blade of the non-fullered example slightly loose, crisp engraving throughout, and generally minimal wear.
