Description:

Produced for commercial sale on the American market, many of these carbines were made using weapons being removed from military inventory due to Versailles Treaty related restrictions, fitting them out with a new barrel, altering the frame to accept a forearm iron, and using the existing stock lug to mount a fine sporting stock. Ramp blade front and Navy-style two-position rear sights, blank chamber, "DWM" toggle, "crown" Imperial proofs on the chamber and breechblock, and a pair of "crown/M" naval-style proofs on the left side of the chamber. The back strap is marked "W.K./8268", indicating it as part of the inventory at the German depot at Kiel before being released. "GERMANY" is stamped on the left side of the forearm and frame rail, with "2" on the underside of the barrel (otherwise unnumbered) and receiver, and "37" on many parts in a "commercial" pattern, including the "crown/M" stamped wood magazine base with concentric circle decoration, and the checkered grip panels and forearm. The carbine comes with a black leatherette finish, green felt lined case, which contains the pistol and the following included accessories; a checkered hardwood shoulder stock with an unnumbered mounting iron, a box of Western Cartridge 7.65mm ammunition, a black leather sling, nickel plated oiler and a wood handled screwdriver.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% plus of the blue finish, showing a mixed brown patina on the barrel, light spotting, and mild handling marks. The grips are also very fine, with a few mild dings, and the forearm and stock shows some chips, dents, and recut checkering. The case is very good, with mild stains and wear. Mechanically excellent,
