Description:

Almost certainly manufactured during the violence and upheaval of the Chinese Civil War, this pistol, unlike many manufactured in China at the time, does not appear to be a copy of a European design, but rather an original homegrown design. This example is entirely unmarked, apart from the serial number, which is marked in full or partially on various parts. The last digit of the serial number is very poorly struck and may be a "3" (as listed in the book) or a "5". The pistols is a blowback design and chambered in .7.63 mm Mauser Auto, fitted with blade and notch sights, a Broomhandle style grasping insert at the rear of the slight, exposed serrated hammer, and thumb safety lever that may have been functional at one time. It is also fitted with a pair of hardwood grips with horizontal hand filed flutes/serrations. This specific pistol is pictured and discussed on p. 154-155 of the book "Pistols of the Warlords: 1911-1949" by Ian McCollum.

Rating Definition:

Good, showing a mostly grey patina overall with some scattered patches of light pitting throughout. The grips are also good with a hairline crack in the left panel, minor gouge in the right panel, and otherwise minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
