Manufactured as a semi automatic closed bolt version of the ever iconic M60 light machine gun using a new made receiver with commercial and military contract components. Developed in the late 1950s, the M60 was designed as a general-purpose machine gun (GPMG), a single weapon to replace as many different .30 caliber machine guns in the Army inventory as possible. The M60 was deployed as the main infantry machine gun for Vietnam, along with a variety of air, ground, and water vehicle mountings. While other designs started to fill the infantry niche from the 80s onward, the M60 is still a frontline automatic weapon with American and allied armed forces. The "11-73" dated barrel is equipped with a fixed blade front sight, elongated bird cage flash hider, and swiveling bipod. The front trunnion is fitted with barrel quick release hardware, carry handle, and rear ladder sight adjustable to 1,100 yards. The trunnion is marked "GUN,MACHINE/7.62-MM, M60/SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" between the carry handle and rear sight. The receiver is marked on the bottom with "AM ARMS/DELTA/RENO, NV/P204" and is fitted with a semi-automatic pistol group with checkered plastic grip and ribbed buttstock with shoulder support. Includes a M60D trigger group and "door gunner" pattern dual spade grip famous for use on helicopters and military vehicles in Vietnam, black plastic belt carrier, and green sling.
Very fine, retaining 90% original parkerized finish with scattered scuffs and scratches, as well as a drag line from the ammunition box mount. The furniture is very good with scattered scratches and dings and some hairline cracks around the rear sling mount. The spade grip has not been tested. Mechanically excellent. This is your chance to add a semi-automatic version of the venerable M60 machine gun to your collection!
