Manufactured in 1914, the top of the slide is marked with the two-line address, patent date, and caliber marking, which lacks the "9MM" notation. The left of the frame is marked with the Savage trademark. The consignor notes that this is a Model 1907-13 modification No. 1 but falls in the No. 2 range. It is fitted with blade and notch sights and a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with Savage logos. The included factory letter lists shipment on 8 August 1914 to Robert Smith, who was a distributor/dealer in the Boston area. Also includes a correctly labeled factory box. Provenance: The Bailey Brower, Jr. Collection, author of “Savage Pistols”
Excellent, retains 97% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish and 95% original vibrant case colors on the trigger with some light edge were and a few scattered patches of light spotting. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fair with significant wear and multiple pieces detached but included.
