The included Colt factory letter identifies this revolver by its serial number as an experimental prototype revolver with 4 inch barrel kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms the caliber, shrouded solid rib barrel, oil-finished checkered walnut grips with nickel plated Rampant Colt medallion inlays and standard markings which lack the Rampant Colt on the side plate, with the type of finish not listed. Serrated ramp blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blue finish with casehardened wide serrated hammer.
Excellent. The revolver retains 95% plus original blue finish with some minor muzzle wear and some minor edge wear with the grip straps thinning to a gray. There are some minor handling marks along with a wide cylinder drag line. The grips are fine with some minor dings and scratches and some minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. Action needs work as it does not function properly in single action.
