Manufactured in 1942 during the German Occupation of Czechoslovakia for issue to the German Gebirgsjaeger mountain troopers. Hooded blade front and tangent rear sights, with "eagle/63" and "eagle/WaA63" markings on the "dot/1941" marked receiver. Matching serial numbers visible on the receiver, bolt handle and stock. Includes "S/173G" (Coppel) marked bayonet and metal scabbard with "1940" dated leather frog and green tassel. Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection

Very fine, retains 70% plus original blue finish with smooth brown patina on the balance, evidence of light cleaning on the buttplate, and a few patches of light pitting. Stock is fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled, with some light handling marks and a few dents underneath the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. Included bayonet and scabbard are very fine.
