Description:

Also known as the No. 2 First Model and manufactured circa 1876-1877, the Baby Russian receives its moniker from the break latch, long ejector housing and back strap knuckle. Matching serial numbers appear on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder, barrel, and barrel latch. Includes a correct period S&W "Baby Russian" picture box and rare wrench. This very scarce picture box bears the instruction sheet on the inside of the lid, and the "picture label" on top, which features a Baby Russian in the center and the text "SMITH & WESSON/No.38/Automatic Ejector,/SPRINGFIELD, MASS."

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% bright original nickel plating. The grips are also excellent with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The very scarce picture box is very good with a semi collapsed bottom. Most of the picture label remains and the text and graphics are clear. An outstanding Baby Russian that will be hard to improve upon.
