Description:

This is a very fine example of a Sharps Model 4B pepperbox pistol. These pistols were manufactured circa 1859 to 1874 with a total production of about 9,000. This model has the bird's head grip frame. The right side of the frame is marked "C. SHARPS PATENT/JAN. 25, 1859". The serial number is marked on the underside of the barrel. Brass blade front and frame "v" notch rear sights, blue barrels and trigger, casehardened frame and hammer, and fitted with smooth rosewood grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrels retain 80% bright original blue finish with scattered minor oxidation. The frame retains 75% plus original vivid case colors with some minor oxidation and a smooth gray patina on the grip straps. The grips are fine with most of the original varnish remaining, and showing some high point wear and some minor dings and scratches. The marking is crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
