Winchester manufactured approximately 19,552 Model 1873s in .22 short or .22 long between 1884 and 1904. They were the first .22 rimfire repeating rifles manufactured in America. This rifle was manufactured in 1893 and has a dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, the two-line address/King's patent marking on top of the barrel, the caliber markings at the breech and on the bottom of the cartridge elevator, the model designation on the upper tang, and the serial number on the lower tang. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Very good with 20% of the original blue finish mostly visible in the protected areas and otherwise dark brown patina overall. The wood is very good and has general minor scrapes and dings, small chips on the rear of the forearm, and mild overall wear. The trigger reset spring is weak, but the rifle otherwise mechanically functions fine. The Winchester Model 1873 was Winchester's first "plinking" rifle and established an American tradition that continues today.
