These derringers were introduced in 1870 and totaled around 48,000 produced. The top of the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and "COLT" in large italic letters and the bottom of the barrel has small British proofs. The caliber marking is on the left of the frame. Includes a copy of "Yellow-Plush Papers" by Thackeray that has been custom modified into a hidden book case for the derringer.

Very fine, retains 95% plus of the bright original blue finish and 80% of the silver finish with the balance primarily a smooth grey patina or attractively aged brass. The grips are excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and retaining almost all of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The custom book/case is fine with mild wear.
