Description:

Manufactured in 1967, the final year of the first generation of the Chevrolet Chevelle. With tastes in the American car market shifting in the early 1960s and growing competition in the "compact" sector, Chevrolet knew they needed something fresh to continue to compete. The Chevrolet Corvair and Chevy II/Nova were losing ground to the Ford Falcon as well as other compact cars like the AMC Rambler American. In 1962, Ford opened a new front in the war between American automakers, releasing their Fairlane which was dubbed a mid-size car, filling the gap between their full-size and compact cars. Chevrolet answered in 1964 with the Chevelle, which was originally conceived as an up-sizing of their Chevy II with a uni-body platform. Throughout the entire productions run, it was offered in two-door coupe hard-tops and convertibles, four-door sedans, and four-door station wagons. The Chevelle Super Sport (SS) was truly Chevy's entry into the American muscle car battle, competing against other legendary GM models such as the Pontiac GTO, Oldsmobile 442, and Buick Gran Sport. These also competed with the likes of the Ford Fairlane and later entries like the Javelin and AMX by AMC, as well as the GTX, Roadrunner, and Super Bee by Chrysler. This example, being a 1967, shows the final redesign of the first generation of the Chevelle, the most noticeable of which is the large wraparound taillights. It has a matching numbers 396/325 HP motor and 4-speed manual transmission, with 21,203 miles on the odometer. It is in the very attractive Marina Blue with white striping down the sides, with matching blue interior and a convertible top. It has the attractive vented hood, SS badging throughout, and a nice looking set of American Racing Torq-Thrust style wheels wrapped in the classically styled BFGoodrich Radials. Includes a clean Iowa title.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as attractively restored, with only a few scattered very light chips/marks in the very attractive paint and almost all of the chrome trim remaining bright. The interior shows very minimal wear overall. Runs fine. If you ask any Chevrolet muscle car collectors to choose their most desired Chevelle, they would likely tell you either a 1970 or a 1967 like this example. Do not miss this opportunity to own a great looking example of one of the most desirable American muscle cars of the 1960s!
