Description:

This pair of lithographs by Edmund H. Osthaus were famously used by the Dupont Powder Company in advertisements between 1896 and 1910. The pair are part of a set of thirteen advertisements. The first print shows Count Gladstone IV, the winner at the 1896 Field Trial Championship, in a field ready for a days hunting. The lower left corner is signed "EDM. H. Osthaus" and the right is marked "COUNT GLADSTONE IV/BY COUNT NOBLE - RUBY'S GIRL/1896". Housed in a wooden frame measuring 21 1/2x27 1/2 inches. The second shows Joe Cumming, the winner at the 1899 Field Trial Championship, pointing down towards the field before a hunt. The lower left corner is marked "JOE CUMMING/BY ANTONIO - PICCOLA/1899." above " COPYRIGHT, 1907, BY DUPONT DE NEMOURS POWDER CO." Housed i a wooden frame measuring 21 1/2x27 1/2 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with some minor storage/display evidence and some corner separation on the frames. The images are excellent with clear images and minimal color fading. These lithographs would make an excellent addition to any American shotgun collection.
