Description:

This incredibly high condition Colt Model 1855 Pocket revolver is a "Model 2" variant manufactured c. 1859 with a 3 1/2 inch octagon barrel with a cone front sight and the pointing hand followed by the two-line, two-block patent and address marking and a round cylinder with the cabin and Indian roll-scene. The barrel, cylinder, and butt have the matching serial number. The bottom of the barrel also has a "K" marking. A sight groove and notch rear sight are incorporated into the top strap. The revolver is finished with blue on the barrel, cylinder, and frame; casehardening on the loading lever and hammer, and has a "piano" varnish finish on the nicely figured walnut grip. It comes in a fitted hardwood case with an Eley Bros. cap tin, blued Colt patent ball/bullet mold, a blued L-shaped combination tool, and a Great Seal of the U.S. themed powder flask. Provenance: The Norm Vegely Collection

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine with 95% plus original blue on the barrel and frame, mostly smooth brown patina on the cylinder scene and 90% plus original blue on the balance of the cylinder, 90% plus of the vibrant original case colors on the loading lever and hammer, and generally only minimal age and storage related wear. The grip is also exceptionally fine and has nearly all of its original high polish varnish finish remaining, attractive figure concentrated on the right side, slight edge wear, and minimal handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine and has minor storage wear.
