This is an exceptional example of the Model 3 variant of Colt's "New Model Pocket Revolving Pistol" and falls towards the end of the 25001-30000 serial number range for this variation. It is readily identifiable based on the 3 1/2 inch octagon barrel and full fluted cylinder in .28 caliber. The barrel has a brass cone front sight and is marked with the two-line, two-block address and patent marking with crosses. The rear sight is a groove and notch in the top strap. The cylinder has the patent marking in one of the flutes. Matching serial numbers are visible on the bottom of the barrel and the butt. It comes in a fitted hardwood case with two cap tins, a blued Colt patent ball and bullet mold, eagle and crossed revolvers pattern pocket powder flask, and L-shaped combination screwdriver.

Very fine with 95% plus of the vibrant original case colors on the hammer, 90% plus of the bright original niter blue on the trigger and screws, 75% plus bright original high polish blue finish, flaking mainly on the back strap and cylinder which have mottled brown patina, and general minor age and storage related wear. The grip is excellent and has essentially all of the original varnish and minimal handling marks. The cylinder does not advance when the hammer is cocked; otherwise, the revolver is mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are also very fine and have only minor storage wear.
