Description:

Manufactured c. 1840s to 1860s by the James Westa firm of Sheffield, England. It measures 11 inches overall, with a 6 7/8 inch clip point blade. The left ricasso is marked "JAMES WESTA/LORD. ST/SHEFFIELD". The straight guard is German silver with floral motifs on the bolsters and the German silver pommel also has floral motifs. It is fitted with smooth pearl grip scales with a German silver escutcheon on the left. Includes a black leather sheath with German silver fittings.

Rating Definition:

Very good, the blade mostly bright with some scattered small patches of light surface pitting. The German silver shows an attractively aged patina overall with some scattered minor dings. The grips are fine with a couple hairline age cracks. The sheath is good with flaking of the leather and moderate wear on the balance.
