The barrel has dovetailed blade and notch sights flanked by engraving and an inlaid signature panel signed "W. Deaderick - D. Davison." Donald Davison is a gunmaker from Washington County, Tennessee, who was trained by Lester Smith of the "Johnson City School" in Tennessee. W. Deaderick may be the late William F. Deaderick Jr. of Jefferson City, Tennessee. The rifle is equipped with single phase double set triggers. The lock and furniture also feature extensive engraving. The rifle has eight silver inlays along the forend, the silver inlays on the tear drop flats, a silver man in the moon inlay on the cheekpiece, and a silver vent pick holder under the cheekpiece. The incredibly figured curly maple stock has raised relief carving.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with nearly all of the original brown finish remaining on the lock and barrel, aged patina on the brass and silver, and minimal overall wear. The stock is excellent and has beautiful figure, crisp carving, and minimal light handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
