Description:

Manufactured in Germany and imported to the U.S., this Luger is equipped with an extra-long barrel. The origin of the barrel is unknown, but Weimar-period American merchants offered the Luger in a variety of barrel options, including Artillery, Carbine, and other configurations. The use of a 16 1/4 inch barrel creates a weapon that can be used as a handgun without the stock, or as a rifle with the stock without creating a Short Barreled Rifle (per U.S. vs Thompson/Center). Blade front and artillery tangent rear sights, "GERMANY" on the left side of sight base, a sling swivel, and faint internal diameter marking on the underside. Crown/N proofs are present on the chamber and breech, straw finished small parts, "GERMANY" on the right side rail, and bright finished magazine with "GERMANY" marked hardwood base. The stock has a checkered straight wrist, unmarked mounting iron, sling swivel, and plastic buttplate. Includes a black leatherette case, leather sling and a box of Winchester ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 95% of the period refurbished blue, showing areas of gray patina on the barrel, bright edge wear, and mild handling marks overall. 85% plus straw color is present on the small parts. The grips are very fine, with a few verdigris spots and dings on the otherwise sharp checkering, with the buttstock in similar condition. The case is very good with handle leather heavily flaking off. Mechanically excellent.
