Description:

This is a rare late second variation Royal Dutch Navy Contract Mauser Banner P.08 Luger manufactured in 1937. These early Mauser Banner Dutch contract Lugers (made 1930-1939) were all issued to the Royal Dutch Navy with those made after 1936 having the Mauser Banner as in this example. There were approximately 525 made in this variation. The chamber is dated 1937 with the standard Mauser Banner logo on the front toggle and the left side of the barrel extension stamped with a commercial "Crown/U" proof. These Dutch Lugers all have their extractor marked "GELADEN" on both sides with "RUST" marked in the upper safety area of the frame. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number stamped on the front of the frame, underside of the barrel and the left side of the barrel extension. The last two digits "70" stamped on the various small parts. Unnumbered replacement checkered walnut grips. This Luger is fitted with an aluminum magazine with a renumbered numbered walnut base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 85% arsenal refurbished blue finish with some fading on the grip straps, a few small patches of light pitting, a relined bore, and sharp markings in the metal overall. 60% plus refinished straw colors visible on the small parts. Replacement grips are excellent with crisp checkering and minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent.
