This First Contract Model 1906 DWM Luger was manufactured for the Royal Portuguese Navy as part of the original contract for 350 units delivered before the fall of Manuel II in October 1910. These early contract Lugers are found in the 1-350 serial number range (see Gortz and Sturgess' "Pistole Parabellum" (Vol. II), page 522). The chamber has the large Portuguese Crown over a single fouled naval anchor with the "DWM" logo on the front toggle. It has the earlier 1906 style frame with grip safety, no stock lug, and the correct polished lower safety area without markings and "CARREGADA" marked extractor. The lower left barrel extension is correctly stamped with the Portuguese "MP" proof. Numbered in the correct commercial manner with no letter suffix. Standard commercial finish, checkered grips and unmarked nickel plated magazine with a commercial wooden base that is re-marked "Cal 9m/m".

Fine, retains 70% arsenal refurbished blue finish with scattered areas thinning to a brown patina and some light pitting. Replacement grips are very fine with crisp checkering and some light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
