This is a unique example of a pre-World War I DWM Model 1908 Commercial Luger that was subsequently upgraded by the German police adding a magazine safety and a sear safety above the sideplate. Manufactured between 1908-1913, these 1908 models were the first true standard production military and commercial Lugers that were used throughout both world wars. The chamber area is blank, and the front toggle has the DWM logo. Commercial "crown/N" proof stamp located on the underside of the barrel, left of the barrel extension, and again on the left side of the breech block and toggle. It has the commercial serial number stamping with the full five digit serial number stamped on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel and the last two digits stamped on the various small parts. These early commercial Lugers exhibit a high polish, rust blued finish with straw colored smaller parts and checkered walnut grips. It is fitted with a police replacement magazine with a nickel plated magazine body with matching numbered wooden base.

Exceptionally fine as police reworked, retains 95% original blue finish with some small areas of loss around the muzzle and on the sideplate, some patches of minor freckling and otherwise crisp edges and lettering in the metal overall. 85% straw colors visible on the small parts. Grips are excellent with minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent.
