Description:

The original iron sights are properly absent as standard on these sniper variants, with a Remington "12-43" dated barrel, "R" marked bolt with properly turned and contoured handle, and the properly offset manufacturer, model and serial number markings on the receiver ring. Smooth pistol grip scant stock, "RA" (Remington Arms) and boxed "FJA" (Frank J. Atwood) inspection stamps surrounding a crossed cannons Ordnance cartouche on the left stock wrist, boxed "S.A./S.P.G." cartouche stamped on the left of the buttstock, with a checkered blue steel buttplate. The M84 scope is serial numbered "27197" on the data plate, and mounted on a parkerized Redfield scope base. Includes an olive drab green canvas sling. This rifle was part of the collection of Toby Jason Chandler (July 31st, 1934-May 25th, 2022). Toby originally graduated from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, became commissioned as a Lieutenant of Field Artillery, was reassigned as Captain of Military Intelligence, and then began a 22-year distinguished career as a U.S. Secret Service Agent from 1959-1981. At 26 years old, he became the youngest agent assigned to the elite team directly protecting The White House. Between 1959-1965 he was assigned to the personal details of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, President John F. Kennedy, and President Lyndon B. Johnson. Provenance: The Toby Jason Chandler Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 90% original parkerized finish, 85% original blue finish on the bolt, and 60% original blue finish on the floorplate, with a few light wear spots. Stock is also very fine as re-oiled, with defined edges, some scratches concentrated on the left rear of the buttstock, some light handling marks, and crisp stampings. Mechanically excellent. Included scope is very fine, retains 75% plus original blue finish with smooth brown patina on the balance, scattered light scratches and handling marks, and crisp/clear optics.
