The included research shows that this beautifully engraved Sauer rifle began as an R&D prototype and was manufactured in March of 1984. It was originally owned by long time Sauer engineer and gunsmith Mike Guarnieri. The rifle features ramped fixed blade front and fixed express style rear notch sights, claw style scope bases, and a sling swivel on a mid barrel band. The documents go on to elaborate that the piece was engraved by Sauer Master Engraver Helmut Schink. The engraving starts with full 5 inch wedges on the sides of the barrel from the rear sight base to the breech, including the scope base. The receiver has near total coverage with fine, broad, leafy scrollwork and two semi-relief gold inlaid European red deer on the left side. The rear scope base, bolt head, upper tang, trigger guard, magazine, and trigger plate are similarly covered in fine, detailed scroll. Mounted on a beautifully figured multi-point checkered stock with contrasting forend and grip caps, rear sling swivel, and a vented Sauer recoil pad.

Excellent. The rifle has 99% original blue finish, incredibly detailed engraving, and minimal light handling marks. The wood is also excellent with very rich color, sharp checkering, a small indentation just forward of the rear sling swivel, and light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. This is a wonderful example of Old World craftsmanship executed by a master artisan.
