Description:

This is a rare example of a 1974 manufactured SACO imported Heckler & Koch HK41 rifle. The HK41 is a semi-automatic variant rifle produced for the civilian market based on the iconic HK G3 fully automatic battle rifle. Reportedly, there are estimated to be approximately 1,300 HK41 rifles manufactured in total with fewer than 400 believed to have been imported into the United States including a limited amount imported by the Golden State Arms Co. between 1962-1966 and Security Arms Company (SACO) in the year 1974, with importation halted for a period in between the aforementioned dates in part due to the Gun Control Act of 1968. This example has the “HK 41” model designation, serial number and "1/74" date code marked on the left of the magazine well and the SACO importer address and caliber on the right. This was part of the late batch of HK41 rifles imported in 1974. In the same year of 1974, Heckler & Koch subsequently renamed these rifles to the HK91, with the earliest HK91 rifles built off of surplus remarked HK41 receivers. Being part of the later SACO imported batch of HK41s, this rare example has the locking-pin tabs eliminated on the front end of the grip assembly, and the corresponding locking-pin hole ("push-pin" hole) and bushing at the base of the receiver has a U-shaped piece of metal inserted to prevent the attachment of a full-auto trigger group. Fitted with hooded post front and four position diopter drum rear sights, slender ribbed forearm, finger groove thumb shelf pistol grip, fixed buttstock, and "S/F" trigger group. Includes a green canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 99% plus original black finish with a few handling marks, a couple light scuffs, and a safety drag line. Furniture set is very fine with scattered scuffs and a couple light scratches. Mechanically excellent.
