Excellent Documented U.S. Springfield Armory National Match M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle with CMP Letter

This is a very late production U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand with a receiver manufactured circa 1957. This example was likely assembled as a National Match Type II rifle, as it is correctly fitted with a "NM" marked gas cylinder, barrel, operating rod, and rear sight base assembly. These were all a late, last clean-up effort to expunge Springfield Armory of all M1 rifles and components prior to beginning the M14 production. The right breech of the barrel is marked "T SA 7791035 3 63 Y16" with "PM" and a heart proof, and the small DAS eagle acceptance proof. "NM" marked on the left front exposed area of the barrel. The bolt is marked "6528287-SA/A15." The gas cylinder is a wide base, with high hump lock and four slot gas cylinder plug. It is fitted with a "NM/2A" hooded rear sight, the "NM/062" front sight, and a glass bedded walnut stock with a DAS eagle cartouche on the left of the wrist and a circled "P" proof on the front of the pistol grip. Includes plastic rear sight cover and a Civilian Marksmanship Letter that indicates this rifle was originally sold as a National Match at an unknown date and was transferred on January 16th, 1969, from one individual to another.

ConditionExcellent, retains 98% original parkerized finish with minimal cycling wear. Stock is also excellent with sharp edges, minimal handling evidence, and crisp stamps. Mechanically excellent.
