Description:

Manufactured in 1915, only 9,849 Model 1907 pistols were manufactured chambered in .380 ACP, compared to nearly 210,000 in .32 ACP. The top of the slide is marked with the two-line address, patent date, and caliber marking, lacking the "9MM" notation. The pistol features "B" Grade engraving that consists of flourishes of English style floral scroll engraving which was likely executed by Enoch Tue. It is fitted with blade and notch sights and a pair of "Type B" smooth pearl grips with Savage medallions. The included factory letter lists the pistol as received from the factory on 2 January 1915, and shipped on 16 June 1916 to W.T. MacArthur. The letter goes on to state other entries in the ledger related to the pistol including work order 965-1, which indicates work done to the pistol before shipment and a repair order #10730 dated 2 December 1918. The letter states that even though the engraving isn't specifically noted in the ledger, the notations that are present makes it a likely candidate for factory engraving. Provenance: The Bailey Brower, Jr. Collection, author of “Savage Pistols”

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 40% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey or smooth brown patina and a few scattered patches of light pitting, with the majority of the engraving crisp. The grips are also fine with a repaired crack and a couple minor chips in the left panel and otherwise minimal handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
