Description:

Manufactured in 1914, the top of the slide is marked with the standard two-line address and patent, as well as the caliber marking. The "SAVAGE" trademark is marked on the left of the frame. The desirable "100001" serial number is marked on the front edge of the frame. It has standard features including checkered hard rubber grips with Savage logos at the center. The included factory letter lists shipment on 14 May 1914 to Oliver Bros. Provenance: The Bailey Brower, Jr. Collection, author of “Savage Pistols”

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 50% of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina and some scattered light pitting and oxidation. The grips are very good with a few scattered light blemishes and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
