Description:

Manufactured in 1911, the top of the slide is marked with the standard two-line address and patent date, the caliber, and the factory circled "SAP" proof on the upper left. The included factory letter indicates that this pistol was accepted from the factory on 8 August 1911 and shipped to W.A. Forbes on 16 August 1911. The letter also indicates in the ledger that the pistol was "tested and proof marked", which accounts for the "SAP" proof. It is fitted with factory installed blade and notch "target" sights and a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with Savage logos at the center. Provenance: The Bailey Brower, Jr. Collection, author of “Savage Pistols”

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 90% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, most noticeably on the sides at the muzzle. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
