Description:

Approximately 25,000 Model 1875s were manufactured between 1875 and 1889. They were among the first and most widely used centerfire revolvers in the West and are particularly known for their use by the Indian Police. They were also known as the Improved Army or Frontier Army. The top of the barrel is "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." The frame has no caliber marking, meaning this is one of the first 16,000 Model 1875 revolvers that was produced, chambered in .44 Remington CF. The revolver features a blade front sight, a frame notch rear sight, the standard web-contoured ejector rod housing, and a fluted cylinder. The serial number is marked on the left side of the grip frame and the loading gate arm. There is a lanyard loop on the butt which is marked "22". Includes an O.C. Young letter stating that the revolver is legal to own in the U.K. due to its antique status and the obsolete cartridge.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 60% plus of the original nickel finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina. The slightly undersize grips are very good with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
