Early 19th Century Relief
Chiseled French Flintlock Cane Rifle - NSN, 56 cal., 21 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut
stock. Beautiful silver mounted and embellished French flintlock cane rifle. Carved dog’s head motif detachable cane handle relief carved
buttstock, a traditional detachable buttstock, and ferrule with brass tip (cracked). Scenic deep relief chiseled breech, trigger guard, and
detachable buttstocks. Gilt frizzen pan. Lock engraved “Chasteau a Paris”. Fine groove rifling. Bordered checkering in the wood. Early 19th century French silver
hallmarks on the buttplate. To load, first remove the ferrule by pulling it out. Then unscrew the
barrel from the breech, which reveals a 3.25 inch barrel for packing in powder, patch and ball.
CONDITION: Fine with some light scattered light pitting on the barrel and areas of the lock, and crisp relief carving.
Wood is fine overall with some dents and scratches, a few very light cracks at the wrist of the standard buttstock, and a well- defined dog’s head. Mechanically fine.

Combination Flintlock Pistol and Sword Cane Marked Price, London - Serial no. 657, 36 cal., 1 5/8

inch round bbl., bright finish, hardwood stock. Wooden cane with a shaft that is carved with six segments that taper down in diameter disguising a concealed 21 1/4 inch sword and a fully functional flintlock smoothbore pistol that is removed by pushing a spring loaded button on the left. The pistol has a flip out trigger, marked “-PRICE-/INVENTOR” on the left,
“227 STRAND/LONDON” on the right, and “657 on the wood handle. The sword is finished nitre blue on the bottom half of the blade with gilt floral inlays. The outside of the
locking collar of the cane is engraved in script “Cooper”.
CONDITION: Very good with some light related scratches and age related cracks in the wood. Pistol is fine overall and has some smooth scattered brown patina. Mechanically excellent. Blade has been rewelded together near mid-section. Balance of blade retains much of the original nitre blue and gilt.
