LOT 479 Remington Model 700/M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with Scope - Serial no. RR16290H, 7.62 mm Nato cal., 24 inch round bbl., black/desert camouflage finish, synthetic stock. This is a commercial version of the US Army’s M24 sniper rifle. It was manufactured by Remington Arms Company and is marked Model 700/M24; however, it is NOT “U.S.” marked. The left side of the receiver is roll marked “REMINGTON/MODEL 700 M24”, and it is fitted with a 24 inch stainless steel barrel that is roll marked on the left side “7.62 NATO”, with the right side stamped with the standard Remington factory proof marks. The receiver is fitted with a single piece mount with an Ultra 10x-M3A scope. It has an adjustable HS precision composite stock with adjustable buttplate and detachable sling swivels. The scope comes with a set of Butler Creek lens covers. The buttstock has been over sprayed with a multi-tone “snakeskin” desert camouflage pattern paint. Includes a Harris bipod. CONDITION: Very good, retaining 90% original black finish with some handling marks. Buttstock is very good as well with 85% of the desert camouflage with dings and scratches. Optics are sharp, reticle solid. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,000 - 8,000

Remington 700/ M40 Style Sniper Rifle - Serial no. 262748, 7.62 mm Nato cal., 24 inch bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. This rifle is an assembled USMC M40 type sniper rifle that is complete with a current commercial recreation of the rare Green Redfield 3X9 sniper scope. The serial number range of this rifle falls within the mid to late 1960s production Remington rifles, and the complete barreled action, scope base, and rings have been properly assembled to include clip slotting the receiver and remarking the left side of the receiver ring with “U.S.” The serial number is outside the known and documented original USMC M40 serial number range. It has been fitted with a heavy weight, target pattern type barrel that is only marked on the left side “7.62 NATO/Heart proof”. The right side is stamped with the circled “REP” proof. The left side of the receiver is marked Remington Model 700, and it has been properly clip slotted and fitted with a new commercial manufacture (Redfield style) M40 type
one-piece scope base and ring set. It is fitted with one of the current/new production Green Redfield 3X9 sniper scopes that perfectly duplicate the original M40 sniper scope. It is fitted with a correct pattern early walnut M40 stock as supplied by the Remington factory that is fitted with the aluminum Remington marked checkered buttplate and the correct wide military style sling swivels. The complete rifle (action and barrel) have a medium gray parkerized finish with an anodized trigger guard and floorplate with a blued scope base and parkerized scope rings. It is complete with a correct Vietnam era web sling. CONDITION: Very fine as custom made with 98% of the refinished parkerized finish overall. The walnut stock is also very fine showing only a couple minor handling marks. The scope is like new with clear sharp optics. A very nice recreation of a USMC M40 sniper rifle that will nicely fill a normally vacant slot in your collection. Provenance: The George Moller Collection. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000 LOT 481 Exceptional Secretary of the Navy Trophy U.S. Remington Model 720 Bolt Action Rifle with Inscription and Matching Box - Serial no. 42026, 30-06 cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. A descendant of the British Pattern ‘14 and the U.S. 1917 Enfield Rifle, the Model 720 had a short tenure as a commercial weapon, introduced in 1941 but rapidly sidelined to free resources for military contract 1903 and 1903A3 production. Of approximately 2,500 actually made, about 1,000 were procured by the Navy and kept in reserve. The circumstances of war and rising availability of the M1 Garand meant these were never tapped for field use, and they would sit at the USN’s Crane Depot until 1963, when a USMC marksmanship officer proposed using them as competitive trophies in lieu of destroying them as surplus. Starting in 1964 they were assigned to the Navy and Marines to dispense as awards for performance at Camp Perry and other prestigious shooting events, traditionally bearing an inscription appropriate to the event on the floorplate. This one is inscribed “SECRETARY OF THE NAVY TROPHY/ALL-NAVY CLAY PIDGEON(sic)/CHAMPION 1971”. Ramp blade front and semi-buckhorn rear sights, with the barrel dated “OL” (July 1942) and standard markings on the barrel and receiver. The top of the receiver bridge has a single untapped vent hole, with a pair of drilled and tapped peep sight holes on the right side. The underside of the bolt is numbered to match the receiver. The stock has a checkered forearm and pistol grip, with the “crossed cannon” and “FJA” acceptance stamps on the left side of the buttstock, sling swivels, and a checkered steel Remington buttplate. The original hand-numbered matching Remington box is included, which has the note “Calhoun/ASC/LANT FLT” on the lid; while not explicitly documented, this would identify a Chief Petty Officer (Aviation Support Equipment) Calhoun with the Atlantic Fleet of the United States Navy, though they have not been specifically identified, nor are they confirmed as the recipient of this rifle. CONDITION: Excellent, with 98% plus original blue finish, showing some minor handling marks and high edge wear overall. The original markings are all clear, and the Navy Trophy inscription is clean and bright. The stock is also excellent, with some scuffing and dings; the wear is mainly of a cosmetic nature. The box is in very good condition for age and use, with evidence of retaping and mild wear. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The George Moller Collection. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500
