Rare and Desirable First Year Production Two Digit
Serial Number “36” Colt Python Double Action Revolver - Serial no. 36, 357 magnum cal., 6 inch vent rib
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1955. This is one of the earliest production Colt Pythons we have ever
offered. The revolver features the iconic six inch barrel with vent rib reading “PYTHON 357/*.357 Magnum CTG*” on the left and “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” on the right, Rampant Colt on the side plate, serrated trigger,
checkered hammer, and checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions. Originally designed to be a .38 special target revolver, the Python was introduced as the top of the line model in Colt’s double action revolver line. It quickly gained favor with police departments and was found carried by uniformed and plainclothes officers alike, albeit with six inch and four inch barrels
respectively. The main feature of production making the revolver stand out is that each part was hand fit, allowing for exceptional accuracy. Per the consignor this revolver has had less than one box of ammunition through it by the original owner.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% original blue finish with very limited handling marks, mostly at the muzzle, and a very faint cylinder drag line. Grips are very fine with limited handling marks and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. This is your chance to get a great early Python.
