These revolvers were designed as the premium Colt target revolver of the day with a redesigned grip frame which provided a better grip angle for competitive target shooting. The term Bisley refers to the Bisley range in England. This factory engraved, blue and gold finished Bisley target model with carved eagle pearl stocks would have certainly made a grand statement at any match.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original blue finish showing only minimal minor handling marks. The front sight, hammer, cylinder and trigger retain 90% plus of the original factory gold plating. The engraving is crisp. The grips are also
excellent with minimal handling marks, crisp carving and highly attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent. The extra cylinder retains nearly all original blue finish and has a crisp engraving. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks and some typical high spot wear. All of the label remains and is clearly legible. A fantastic example of one of the rarest, well-documented factory engraved Flattop Bisley Target models that is a must have for the serious Colt collector.
Provenance: The Robert M. Lee Collection.
