Model 10 Double Action Revolver with Carved Steer
Head Pearl Grips Attributed to Texas Sheriff - Serial no. C168605, 38 special
cal., 2 inch round bbl., blue finish, pearl grips. Manufactured in 1948-1951. “5-screw”
frame with standard markings, blade and groove sights, and fitted with a pair of
pearl grips with a steer head carved on the right panel. Matching serial number
on the butt, cylinder, ejector, and barrel. The consignor attributes the pistol to Johnny Klevenhagen, who was the sheriff of Harris County, Texas from 1985 to 1995. The validity of this
attribution is bolstered by the grips each being hand carved “KLEVE” on the insides and “JK” being stamped on each side of the frame
under the grips.

smooth brown patina, primarily on edges, the trigger guard, and grip straps. The grips are also very fine with a few very light chips on the bottom edges and crisp carving. Mechanically excellent.
