Presentation Haenel-Lorenz Single Shot Bolt Action “Wehrmannsgewehr” Rifle - Serial no. 2127, 8.15 mmx46 R cal., 29 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. This rifle is an example of a serviceman’s target or Wehrmannsgewehr rifle, which were assembled from some World War I surplus parts, newly made receivers, and other newly made parts between the World Wars. This particular rifle appears to have been presented as a wedding anniversary gift to J. Hauser
in November of 1936, with a silver banner plaque on the right of the stock marked “Sch.=Ges.Saalburg/gest. anlaBl. der/Silberhochzeit/J. Hauser. Nov. 1936”. Blade front and ski-ramp tangent rear sights, with the receiver ring marked “ORIGINAL/HAENEL-LORENZ” over the Haenel arrow logo. The bottom of the barrel is numbered “2127”. Multiple components are numbered “27”. The magazine assembly is properly absent, with the stock solid in the region. Smooth pistol grip stock with a R Fischer maker’s disk and a smooth flat buttplate. Includes a leather sling CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned slightly to a smooth grey patina. The silver plaque shows an attractive antique patina. The refinished wood is
fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches and a small splice visible in the right near the barrel band. Mechanically excellent

Very Fine Mauser Commercial Production Single Shot Bolt Action “Wehrmannsgewehr” Serviceman’s Target Rifle - Serial no. 88974, 8.15 mmx46 R cal., 29 inch round bbl., blue/bright finish, walnut stock. Patterned as closely as possible after the Gewehr 98 military rifle, the “Wehrmannsgewehr” was intended for civilian or paramilitary target practice, using the commercial 8.15x46 cartridge instead of the 7.92x57, which was restricted post-WWI. Blade front and tangent rear sights with graduations from 4-20. The barrel has the serial number on the left and “BL.G./Sch.H.” caliber marking on top, both at the breech. The receiver has commercial “crown/letter” proofs, the serial number, with the standard Mauser military style markings and 1911 date on top of the receiver ring. Unlike many Wehrmannsgewehr rifles, this example was not manufactured in single shot configuration. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a flat steel buttplate marked on the right with an ornate monogram style logo and “F.O.T.” which may be related to one of many Weimar-era paramilitary groups. There is a 1930 dated sticker on the bottom of the stock marked “DEUTSCHES/BUNDESSCHIESSEN/KOLN” for “German Federal Shooting Koln”.
CONDITION: Very fine as postwar reworked, retains 90% plus of the blue finish, the receiver mostly bright, with some scattered light edge wear and handling marks. LOT 1590 Haenel-Lorenz Single Shot Bolt Action “Wehrmannsgewehr” Rifle - Serial no. 1270, 8.15mm x 46R cal., 29 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. This rifle is an example of a serviceman’s target or Wehrmannsgewehr rifle, which were assembled from some World War I surplus parts, a newly made receiver, and some newly made parts between the World Wars. These rifles were popular among civilians and paramilitaries and circumvented the Treaty of Versailles due to their caliber. Blade front and Haenel marked elevation adjustable notch rear sights, with the receiver ring marked “ORIGINAL/HAENEL-LORENZ” over circled “H” logo. The left of the receiver has “crown/B” and “crown/U” proofs, and along with the buttplate is numbered “1270”, with “270” on some other components. The magazine assembly is properly absent, with the stock solid in the region. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a smooth flat buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 80% plus of the blue finish with some scattered light edge wear and handling marks and the bolt handle showing a grey patina. The wood is fine with a couple repairs near the upper barrel band and some scattered light handling marks throughout. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Buckstix Collection. Pre-World War II Mauser Bolt Action Serviceman’s Target Rifle with Tyrolean Shooting Association Markings - Serial no. 20044, 8.15X46R cal., 29 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood stock. A very nice pre-war commercial production Mauser Wehrmansgewehr Tirolean Shooting Association (Tiroler Schutzen Verein, T.St.V) rifle. Developed from the Gewehr 98, the Serviceman’s Rifle was configured for para-military target shooting between 100 and 300 meters, chambered for the 8.15x46R cartridge, a lower-powered round that would be safer for use in built-up areas and provided with a level of fit and finish well beyond the martial production arms of the same era. Blade front and windage adjustable tangent rear sights with caliber marking on the left side of the breech, a spread-winged Tyrolean Eagle and Swastika on the front receiver ring over “T.ST.V.” and the serial number and the Mauser banner on the rear receiver ring, “crown/letter” proofs on the left side, and the Mauser address on the side wall. Milled components. Smooth pistol grip stock, with sling mounts on the underside and a flat steel buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine with 95% of the period retailer refinished blue finish, showing some wear on the muzzle and high points, along with some scattered spotting and handling marks. Some mixed/ absent number components present. Stock is also very fine, with some chipping around the front band spring and the top of the wrist, along with some light pressure dents. Estimate: 1,500 - 2,500 LOT 1592 Mauser Commercial Production Bolt Action “Wehrmannsgewehr” Serviceman’s Target Rifle - Serial no. 123709, 8.15 mmx46 R cal., 29 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Patterned as closely as possible after the Gewehr 98 military rifle, the “Wehrmannsgewehr” was intended for civilian or paramilitary target practice, using the commercial 8.15x46 cartridge instead of the 7.92x57, which was restricted by the Treaty of Versailles post-World War I. Blade front and tangent rear sights with a windage adjustment knob and graduations for 100, 175 and 300 meters. The barrel has the serial number and caliber marking on the left at the breech. The receiver has the Mauser banner on top and the left is marked with the serial number and Oberndorf address, as well as “antler” and “eagle/N” proofs. The “eagle/N” proof is repeated on the bolt handle and the partial serial number is on various small parts. Unlike many of the Wehrmannsgewehr rifles, the receiver on this example was not manufactured as a single shot rifle, but retains the Gewehr 98 style magazine and follower. Mounted with a smooth pistol grip stock with blank stock disk on the right and a smooth buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 90% of the original blue finish with a few scattered patches of light oxidation and some light edge wear.
