Stunning Casehardened Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 32846, 38-56 WCF cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish. Offered here is a stunning casehardened frame Winchester Model 1886 Rifle. The accompanying factory letter confirms the round barrel in .38-56 caliber and plain trigger. The factory letter also states that the rifle was received in the warehouse on August 20, 1889 and shipped on August 28 on order number 1163. The barrel is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and “38-56 W.C.F.” at the breech. The upper receiver tang is stamped “-MODEL 1886-.” The lower receiver tang is stamped with the two-line, two patent dates marking and the serial number. The forend cap, receiver, hammer, lever and
buttplate are finished in highly desirable, highly attractive case colors.
The bolt, barrel and full length magazine tube are blued. The loading gate
is nitre blued. The plain forearm and straight grip stock are walnut. The buttstock is fitted with a solid crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent. The barrel and magazine retain 97% plus original blue finish. The bolt retains 97% original blue finish. 90% plus original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. The frame retains 95% vivid original case colors. 60% original case colors remain on the buttplate. The hammer, lever and forend cap retain 90% plus original case colors. The wood is also excellent with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. A fantastic casehardened frame Winchester Model 1886 rifle that would be difficult to improve upon!
