This was originally a Snider rifle which was sent to the Colonies. The lock plate is marked "E.P." inside a crescent. 'SNIDER/arrow through s/PATENT" is on top of the breechblock. There are Birmingham type proofmarks on the barrel, action and breechblock. There are numerous unidentified marks on top of the barrel, many of them overstamped. The barrel has been bored to smooth but the sights have not been removed. An attempt was made to rechecker the left side of the wrist but it was not successful.

Fair with smooth gray patina and light pitting overall. The wood was worn smooth with some chips and dents. Mechanically fine.
