Rating:

OD - VERY GOOD- all original parts; none to 30% original finish; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering, numerals and design on metal; wood slightly scratched or bruised.

Description:

This revolver has a high polish blue finish on the barrel, frame and cylinder, casehardened loading lever, hammer, and trigger and oil finished, two-piece walnut grips. The top strap is marked: "ROGERS & SPENCER / UTICA N-Y". All of the serial numbers match. Ordnance "B" sub-inspection marks are stamped on the barrel, frame, cylinder, hammer and trigger guard. The grips have been contoured for a snugger fit in the hand.

Rating Definition:

About good as modified with traces of the original blue finish remaining on the frame and protected areas of the barrel mixed with a smooth brown patina. The hammer has been welded on, in the center in order to replace the spur. There are scattered overall minor dings in the metal. There is some minor flash pitting on the cylinder. The percussion nipples are modern replacements. The crudely made period replacement grips are ill-fitting with a large chip on the left heel. Dents on the bottoms from hammering, high edge wear and overall dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is tight.
